Perham senior Jack Fudge took third place in the Class AA individual state wrestling championship Friday, March 26, in St. Michael-Albertville.

Freshman Chandler Mickelson wrestled in the 106 weight class. According to head coach Dave Vetsch, Mickelson had two tough matches from the start. "Even though he didn't bring home a medal, that doesn't reflect the talent this kid has," Vetsch said. "He has great years to come!"

Perham junior Brian Ramos placed sixth individually. He was defeated by New Ulm Area’s Cole Ranweiler on a 7-4 decision. Vetsch says Ramos is fun to watch and has some signature "Ramos" moves. "He had a year of domination, but met up with some tough kids down at state," Vetsch said.

In the 152 weight class, Fudge defeated Foley senior Logan Thorsten by fall to take third place in the tournament. Vetsch commented on Fudge's unique style, which he has had since he was young. "I've always loved his drive and dedication to the sport," Vetsch said. "I've enjoyed being able to watch throughout his years of competition, and I know the sky is the limit for him."
