The Perham Yellowjackets continued their best start in school history with a 57-37 victory over Pelican Rapids on Jan. 19, moving to 14-0 with the Heart O’Lakes Conference victory.
The Yellowjackets hope to make it 15 when they take on state-ranked Esko in Esko on Jan. 20 at 4:30 p.m. The Eskomos have had the upper hand on the Yellowjackets the past two seasons. Last year, the Eskomos defeated Perham 59-47. The year prior, the Eskomos defeated Perham, 53-37. The Eskomos are led by 7’3” forward Adam Trapp. The Eskomos enter the contest with a 10-3 record, dropping games to Annandale, Columbia Heights and Brooklyn Center.
Carter Cresap led all scorers for the Yellowjackets, finishing with 14 points. He connected on four 3-pointers in the game. Jenson Beachy added 13 points, while Martin LaFond had 11 points.
Logan Richter finished with six points, but controlled the glass for Perham. He hauled in 14 of the team’s 36 rebounds, giving the Yellowjackets a commanding edge on the boards against Pelican Rapids.
The Yellowjackets move to 14-0 overall on the season and are now 5-0 against HOL opponents. The Yellowjackets and the Eskomos tip off at 4:30 p.m. on Jan. 20.
