Perham's Chas Melvin threw a shutout and had a big day at the plate in Perham's 10-0 victory against the Roseau Rams in the Section 8AA playoffs Tuesday, June 8, in Deer Creek.
Melvin threw a complete game shutout, allowing just one hit and striking out 11 batters in the contest. He also had a great day at the plate, going 3-4, scoring four runs and driving in two runs.
Perham got on the board in the first inning, when Andrew Smith led off with a solo home run for the Yellowjackets. The home run was followed by three consecutive doubles by Melvin, Ben Shumansky, and Rian Solberg, and Perham led 3-0 after one inning.

The team added three more runs in the second inning, one run in the fourth, and three more in the fifth inning to end the game and give the Yellowjackets the 10-0 win.
The Yellowjackets had 14 hits in the game, with Shumansky, Smith, Melvin, and Solberg all getting multiple hits for Perham. Shumansky led the team with four hits in four at bats. He also scored two runs and had two RBIs on the day.
Perham also played well in the field, committing zero errors in the game.
The Yellowjackets will play for the Section 8AA Championship Thursday, June 10, at 2:30 p.m. Check back for location and additional information.
