The Perham Sportsman's Club held an online auction in place of their traditional chili feed fundraiser this year.
The club was unable to hold its annual chili feed fundraiser because of the COVID-19 pandemic. In thinking outside the box on how to meet obligations to various commitments made by the club, the decision was made to stage an online fundraiser auction. The online event ran from Oct. 22- 27, with participants both locally and outside the area getting in on the bidding for firearms, hunting and fishing trips, resort stays and other items that drew generous bids.
Traditionally the Mystery Safe is part of the chili feed’s events, however, this event could not be added to the online auction. Instead raffle tickets for the safe and the “Mystery Contents” are available at Gene's Sport Shop or from members of the Perham Sportsman's Club.
As in years past, the club asked sponsors to step forward and help to underwrite the event, in return for being eligible for a special sponsor drawing. Winning the draw for the sponsor gun was Kathy and Tom Gould, the winner of the Calcutta cooler was Justin Helmke and the Vortex Crossfire binoculars were won by Doug Huebsch.
The Perham Sportsman's Club would like to thank each and everyone who contributed to the success of this “experiment.”
