The Detroit Lakes girls hockey team is searching for its first win of the season after suffering losses against Hastings and East Grand Forks.

Detroit Lakes' Hope Hamm, Emily Peterson, Marin Westrum and Rylie Wendt, along with Perham-New York Mills' Taylor Ziemke and Avery McAllister also competed in the state preliminaries.

The Detroit Lakes fell in its season opener against Fergus Falls last Thursday.
Swimmers and divers from the Detroit Lakes and Perham-New York Mills teams sent athletes to state in five events at the Section 8A championships on Saturday in Warroad. Detroit Lakes' Faith Hamm was named Section 8A Swimmer of the Year. Perham-New York Mills' Brittney Lorentz and Amanda Fischer received Diver and Diving coach of the Year honors.
Perham-New York Mills' Brittney Lorentz, and Detroit Lakes' Hope Hamm qualified for the Class A state diving competition with top three finishes at sections on Wednesday.
