PERHAM – The Perham baseball team received a bevy of Section 8-2A and Heart O’Lakes Conference honors following the 2022 season.
Junior Ben Shumansky, and seniors Rian Solberg, Chas Melvin and Austin Aanenson were named to the all-section team.
Solberg, Shumansky and Melvin also received HOL All-Conference selections, along with senior Logan Pulju. Jack Mensing, Gamble Bye, Blaiz Schmidt and Ashton Detloff were honorable mentions.
Aanenson was named the conference’s Most Valuable Player. Senior Gage Germolus was awarded the Most Outstanding Pitcher award.
Perham finished the season 24-3 and set multiple team records. Its 16-game winning streak is tied for the best in team history. Perham also did it in 1977 and 2019. The Yellowjackets recorded a program-best in hits (268), at-bats (772) and pitching wins (24) in 2022.

Melvin set the program record for career hits with 95 and doubles with 24. Solberg is now the program leader in RBIs with 71. Gage Germolus tied the program record for best winning percentage with a 6-0 record. He also has the lowest single-season ERA at 0.23. Solberg tallied 43 RBIs this season, which is another program best. Aanenson recorded a 5-for-5 performance to break the team record for hits in a single game.
