Boys basketball: Anderson reaches 1,000 career points

The Perham boys basketball team routed Barnesville with the help of Soren Anderson’s historic night.

BARNESVILLE – It was a historic night for Perham’s senior guard Soren Anderson at Barnesville on Thursday.

Anderson reached 1,000 career points with his game-high 21 to become the fourth player in program history to reach such a milestone. He also finished with game-highs in assists (8) and rebounds (8). He helped Perham (14-1, 6-1 conf.) rout Barnesville (8-5, 2-4 conf.) 69-40.

The Yellowjackets completed the regular season series sweep of the Trojans.

Perham only had a 27-22 lead at the half, but the Yellowjackets dominated the second half, outscoring Barnesville 42-18.

The Perham defense blanketed the Trojan offense not allowing any player to score double-digit points. Barnesville shot 13-of-38 (34%) from the floor and 5-of-24 (20%) from beyond the arc.

The Yellowjackets shot 26-of-46 (57%) from the floor and knocked in 7-of-20 (35%) from three-point land. Micah Thompson was Perham’s second-leading scorer with 14 points. He also led the team with three steals. Alex Ohm (11) also scored in double-digits.
