Boys basketball: Perham suffers first loss to Dilworth-Glyndon-Felton in overtime thriller

The Perham boys basketball team suffered its first loss of the season on Thursday in an overtime against Dilworth-Glyndon-Felton.

GLYNDON- Two halves weren't enough to decide the winner on Thursday night.

Dilworth-Glyndon-Felton (6-2) outscored the Yellowjackets (10-1) 6-5 in overtime to pull out a 57-56 win. The Rebels handed the Yellowjackets their first loss of the season in a Section 8-2A title game rematch.

The Rebels led 29-27 after the first half before Perham clawed back to force overtime.

The Yellowjackets shot 21-of-39 (53%) from the field and 9-of-18 (50%) from behind the arc. DGF shot 23-of-52 (44%) from the field and 6-of-22 (27%) from three. The Rebels did most of their damage inside the arc, making 17-of-20 (57%). DGF also was active on defense, forcing 17 Perham turnovers.

DGF's Owen Leach was the game's top scorer with 30 points. Leach made 11-of-26 (42%) attempts from the floor. He also grabbed 10 rebounds to secure a double-double. Drew Sheeley finished with 10 points as the only other Rebel in double figures.


Micah Thompson was Perham's top scorer with 17 points. He also dished three assists and grabbed seven rebounds. Soren Anderson finished the night with 14 points, seven rebounds and three assists.

The loss ended Perham's winning streak at 10 games. It also knocked the Yellowjackets out of first place in the Heart O'Lakes Conference standings. DGF holds the top spot at 4-0.
