Boys golf: Perham plays best golf of season at Heart of Lakes Conference tournament

The Yellowjackets had four golfers break 90 at the Heart of Lakes Conference tournament on Monday.

DETROIT LAKES – The Perham boys golf team saved the best for last as the Yellowjackets finished the regular season at the Heart of Lakes Conference tournament at Wildflower golf course on Monday.

Perham ended the day in second place with 330 team points, only trailing Heart of Lakes Conference champions Hawley by six strokes.

Yellowjackets’ head coach Peder Butenhoff was proud to see his boys play to their full potential that they have been trying to unlock all season long.

“We finally got over the hump and played at a level they had hoped for all season,” he said. “Ethan Guck played an outstanding round leading the Jackets. A round he was looking for all season as he placed fifth. Brayden Glorvigen and Cole Rueter had solid rounds and finished at ninth and 10th overall in the conference for the season. We are looking forward to playing Headwaters in Park Rapids next Wednesday in the subsection meet.”

Guck completed his round with a final score of 81. Glorvigen tied for sixth with a final score of 82. Reuter trailed not too far behind with a final score of 83 and a share of ninth place.

Dylan Ralston ended his day with an 84 and placed tied for 12th. Grant Wiser was 25th with a final score of 94 and Tait Bormann went back to the clubhouse with a final score of 95 and a 26th-place finish.
