Boys Swimming and Diving: Swenson breaks school record at True Team Section Meet
The Perham-New York Mills boys and swim and dive team competed in the Section 5A True Team meet at the University of Minnesota-Morris this past Saturday.
MORRIS- It was a record-breaking meet for some of the Perham-New York Mills swimmers over the weekend.
The Yellowjackets finished in seventh-place with 306 team points behind some new program and personal bests.
Perham-New York Mills’ Blake Swenson set a new program record in the 50-yard freestyle with his time of 22.84. He broke Patrick Murphy's mark of 22.86 set in 2016. Swenson finished in second in the race. Swenson also grabbed a third-place finish in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 58.15.
The 200-yard medley relay team of Swenson, Ben Mathiason, Alex Mack, and Bjorn Anderson finished in ninth-place with a time of 2:07.16 to set a new season best.
Alexandria finished as the top team with 1,226 team points.
First-year swimmers Levi Rosenthal, Henry Mathiason, Benjamin Mathiason and Simon Runyan all set personal bests in their individual events.
