FERGUS FALLS – The Perham tennis team suffered a pair of 4-3 tough losses on Thursday.
After falling in a road match against Sartell, the Yellowjackets suffered a narrow defeat at the hands of Fergus Falls.
Josh Peterson won his No. 1 singles match over Ben Schierer 6-0, 6-2. Jack Birkeland and Mason Happen won singles matches as well. Birkeland beat Grant Ackerson 2-6, 6-2, 10-6 at No. 3 singles, while Happel beat Ethan Leopold in the fourth position.
The Otters swept all three doubles matches, including a three-set thriller at No. 1 doubles. Nick Flugstad and Reno Schierer beat Soren Anderson and Hudson Hackel 2-6, 6-4, 10-. Bryce Adams and Christian Reed also won a tightly-contested battle at No. 3 singles against Reece Willprecht and Brekken Wokasch.
On Thursday, Perham dropped its season opener against Sartell. Peterson cruised at No. 1 singles 6-1, 6-0, while Michael Schwantz beat Clayton Fuller 6-2, 7-5.

Michael Anderson and Very Halvorson beat Aidan Woods and Riley Hengel in three sets (6-0, 2-6, 10-7) at No. 2 doubles.
The Yellowjackets’ match on Friday at Detroit Lakes was postponed due to rain.
