DETROIT LAKES – Detroit Lakes got the better of the Perham boys tennis team for the second time this season.
The Lakers swept the season series after Monday’s 6-1 win over the Yellowjackets.
“We changed some things up with the lineup today,” Detroit Lakes head coach Zach Biggar said. “We had a feeling that Josh (Peterson) was going to play doubles, so we wanted to give some guys a different look today. We had three third-set tiebreakers and took three of them. Kudos to the guys for staying tough through adversity and finishing strong today.”
Reed Henderson and Connor Zamzo each won their Nos. 1 and 2 singles matches in three sets. Nate Cihak teamed up with Jordan Fields to beat Josh Peterson and Soren Anderson at No. 1 doubles 6-4, 5-7, 10-7. Perham’s lone win came at No. 3 doubles. Brekken Wokasch and Mason Happel beat Elijah Blow and Cole Deraney 6-4, 6-7, 10-5.
Detroit Lakes’ Gabriel Reller Breck Winter won singles matches in straight sets. Gavin Smith and Cooper Moore beat Reece Willprecht and Hudson Hackel 6-0, 6-1 at No. 2 doubles.
