PERHAM- A big first half gave the Perham girls basketball team enough cushion against Dilworth-Glyndon-Felton in its 49-41 victory Thursday night.
Yellowjackets’ (9-1) head coach TJ Super was happy with how his team finished the first half and had high praise for the Rebels for holding the Yellowjackets to their lowest-scoring game of the season.
“We took a while to get going, but once we did, we looked pretty good in the first half,” he said. “Our ball movement was nice, and we threw a couple of extra passes for wide-open threes. I have to give DGF credit. All season they’ve hung around and played everybody tight, and when it felt like we were right on the edge of blowing them out, they would make a couple of plays. Coach Sunde has his team playing hard. At one point in the second half, we missed four layups in a row and didn’t shoot well from the outside. It’s one of those games you mark down in the win column and move on.”
Mya Morris helped to get the team going with some nice assists to start the game. Morris made 4-of-10 three-point attempts to finish as the game’s leading scorer with 12. Willow Thiel added 10 rebounds to her seven points. Cora Grismer and Olivia Pilgrim also finished with seven points.
The Yellowjackets improve to 9-1 overall and 4-0 in conference to give them the top spot in the Heart of Lakes. DGF falls to 3-6 overall and remains winless in conference play with an 0-4 record.
