Girls hockey: Detroit Lakes opens the season against Fergus Falls

The Detroit Lakes fell in its season opener against Fergus Falls last Thursday.

DETROIT LAKES – The Detroit Lakes girls hockey team kicked off its season with a home game against Fergus Falls on Thursday night.

The Lakers (0-1-0) suffered a 14-0 loss to the Otters (1-0-0). Fergus Falls’ Maddie Hulter had a seven-point night with two goals and five assists. Tyra Skjeret had five goals and one assist. Ava Werner, Skye Norgren, Maddie Brimhall, Rachel DeBrito, Lydia Johnson, Ella Starzl, Isabel Kloster and Averie Tonnenson all had multi-point games.

Detroit Lakes will take on East Grand Forks and Hastings at the Kent Freeman Arena on Thursday and Friday at 7 p.m.
