WARROAD – The Perham-New York Mills girls swimming and diving team took third place at the Section 8A True Team meet on Saturday.
The Yellowjackets finished with a team score of 912, beating Detroit Lakes (886) for the third spot. Park Rapids won the meet with a score of 1,327.5, followed by Fergus Falls in second (1,030).
Perham-New York Mills took first place in three events. Taylor Ziemke won the 50 and 100-yard freestyle races. She clocked in at 26.02 in the 50 before winning with a time of 57.10 in the 100.
Brittney Lorentz and Avery McAllister finished in the top two spots in the diving competition again. Lorentz had the high score of 425.6, while McAllister totaled 363.3.
Elle McDonald took third place in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 1:09.59. She also swam the first leg in the Yellowjackets’ 200-yard medley relay with Katelyn Kratzke, Lucy Schultz and Ziemke. The relay finished in third with a time of 2:07.02.

Schultz notched a pair of fifth-place finishes. She clocked in at 1:08.77 in the 100-yard butterfly. She also swam the first leg in the 400-yard freestyle relay with Molly Meyer, Lucie Meyer and Ziemke to a time of 4:11.55.
