Girls tennis: Perham-New York Mills keeps hot streak going against Park Rapids

The Perham-New York Mills girls tennis team beat Park Rapids 6-1 on Tuesday to solidify itself as one of the top teams in the sub-section.

PERHAM – The Perham-New York Mills girls tennis team is on a roll.

The Yellowjackets look like one of the top teams in the Section 8-2A North field after another win over a rival. They beat Park Rapids 6-1 with a sweep in singles.

LaVonne Lindberg dropped the first set 6-4 at No. 1 singles. Then she turned it on, winning the following two sets 6-1 and 10-1 over Morgan Koppelman.

Kaia Anderson dominated at No. 2 singles, beating Shailyn Hayes 6-1, 6-2. Alayna Moe and Violet Radniecki also won in straight sets in singles matches. Maya Radniecki and Addicyn Zimmerman beat Emma Goochey and Abby Runyan 6-1, 6-0 at No. 2 doubles. Courtney Ternus and Anna Stoll bounced back from a long-winded 7-5 win in the first set to win the second 6-0.

Par Rapids’ only win of the afternoon came at No. 1 doubles. Mickey Clark and Macy Goochey edged out a 7-5, 6-4 win over Trinity Covington and Morgan Smith.
