THIEF RIVER FALLS – The Perham-New York Mills girls tennis team made some history on Tuesday.
The Yellowjackets beat Thief River Falls 4-3 for the first time in program history. The Prowlers, who have been one of the state powers in high school tennis, had never surrendered a match to Perham-New York Mills in any boys or girls meeting.
The Yellowjackets won a pair of three-set matches. Kaia Anderson beat Avery Skaar 3-6, 6-4, 6-2 at No. 2 singles. Anna Stoll and Eva Vorderbruggen beat Ingrid Anderson and Brianne Ellison 7-5, 3-6, 7-5 at No. 3 doubles.
Violet Radniecki took down Anna Lunsetter 6-1, 6-1 at No. 4 singles. Maya Radniecki and Addicyn Zimmerman knocked off Piper Greene and Stephanie Dagg 6-4, 6-3 at No. 2 doubles.
