Girls track and field roundup: Perham girls win Craig Hougen Indoor Classic

BEMIDJI – The Perham girls track and field team took first place at the Craig Hougen Indoor Classic on Thursday.

The Yellowjackets beat out 13 other teams for the top spot in their third indoor meet of the season behind four first-place individual finishes. Perham (112.3) beat out Pequot Lakes (107) and Wadena-Deer Creek (93) for the top spot.

Lauryn Rustad took first place in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 9.89. Jaden Hackel (10.32, 3rd), Lil Aakre (10.84, 6th) and Olivia Rosenthal (10.87, 7th) all finished in the top eight as well.

Hackel also took first place in the triple jump at 35-feet, 5-inches, while Aakre took sixth in the 60-meter dash with a time of 8.7 seconds.

Gracie Morris won the pole vault at 9-feet, 6-inches. Maya Richter was right behind her in second place at 9-feet, with Natalie Rooney (8-feet, 6-inches) and Danail Van Watermulen (8-feet, 6-inches) in fourth and seventh.


Alexis Hartmann took second in the long jump at 15-feet, 4-inches, with Willow Thiel (14-feet, 11.5-inches) and Lola Pulver (14-feet, 11-inches) in fifth. Thiel also finished in first place in the high jump at 4-feet, 8-inches. Rosenthal was two inches behind her in fourth place.

The Yellowjackets also competed in their first outdoor invite of the season on Monday at Fergus Falls. Perham took fourth with a team score of 91.

Morris (9-feet, 6-inches) and Richter (8-feet, 6-inches) took the top two spots in the pole vault. Van Watermulen and Rooney also vaulted 8-feet, 6-inches. Hackel won the triple jump at 33-feet, 5.75-inches as well.
