Girls track and field: Yellowjackets win HOL indoor meet

The Perham girls track and field team beat out other Heart O'Lakes Conference foes on Tuesday in the season-opening meet.

MOORHEAD – The Perham girls track and field team kicked off its season with a bang on Tuesday at the Heart O’Lakes indoor meet.

The Yellowjackets cruised to a first-place finish with 126 team points. The 4x400-meter relay team of Gracie Morris, Leelou Novotny, Quincy Anderson and Jaden Hackel paced the pack with a time of 4:37.14. Anderson and Novotny also ran to first place (11:14.92) in the 4x800-meter relay with Liz Birkeland and Mia Lung.

Morris and Mya Richter each vaulted a height of 9-feet in the pole vault to claim the top two spots. Kennedy Pilgrim also took first in the triple jump with a length of 32-feet, 11-inches.

Barnesville took second place in the team standings with a score of 84. Crookson (78), Park Christian (69) and East Grand Forks (66) rounded out the top five team scores.
