HAWLEY – The Perham softball team had its season come to an end in the first round of the Section 8-2A playoffs in Hawley.

Despite keeping the subsection’s second seed at bay until the fifth inning, the Nuggets’ bats got hot in a six-run outburst on their way to a 9-1 win.

Hannah Zachariason tallied the lone run of the game for Perham with a solo blast in the top of the fourth inning to cut the lead to 2-1. Perham had a runner get to second base shortly after but couldn’t bring her home to tie the game.

Zachariason had a pair of hits on the day. Bri Hoffman also had a hit at the plate for the Yellowjackets. Steph Meissner gave up nine runs on 11 hits with one strikeout on the rubber. Hawley’s Elle Hastings surrendered just three hits and struck out eight batters.

Perham finished the season 5-15 and 4-14 in the section.
