DILWORTH – The Perham track and field teams are gearing up for another successful postseason after a great showing at the Heart O’Lakes Conference championships.
The Perham girls took first place with a team score of 166, while the boys took second at 172. Between the boys and the girls, the Yellowjackets notched 10 first-place finishes in Dilworth last Tuesday.
Senior Jakob McCleary won the 400 and 1,600-meter races. He ran the 400-meter race in 52.11 seconds and the mile in 4:30.51. Bjorn Anderson was right behind McCleary in the 1,600 in second place with a time of 4:37.69.
Anderson took first place in the 3,200-meter run at 10:24.00. Carter Flatau (10:28.56) and Dylan Guck (10:29.56) took second and third place.
The Perham pole vaulters soared on Tuesday. Levi Richter vaulted 14-feet to take home first place, while Aiden Kennedy (11-feet, 6-inches) and Noah Novotny (11-feet, 6-inches) took second and third. Gracie Morris won the girls pole vault at 10-feet. Danial Van Watermulen (9-feet, 6-inches) and Natalie Rooney (9-feet) also took second and third.
Jaden Hackel won the 300-meter girls hurdles race with a time of 60.79. Perham had five hurdlers place in the top eight across two events, including Lauryn Rustad’s runner-up finish in the 100-meter hurdles in 16.76 seconds.
Connor Kostynick has been at or near the top of every throwing competition this season. He took first place in the discus at 160-feet, 8-inches. He also won the shot put competition with a throw of 46-feet, 10.5-inches.
The Perham girls beat Barnesville by 34 points to win the Heart O’Lakes Conference Championship. Dilworth-Glyndon-Felton won the boys HOL title by 16 points over the Yellowjackets.
