Detroit Lakes-The DL wrestling team had a lead on No. 7AA Perham midway through the match but victories in three of four late matches and a pair of Laker forfeits gave the Yellowjackets a 40-23 victory Thursday night at Ralph Anderson Gymnasium.
Career takedowns leader and No. 2-2A 152-pounder Parker Jackson recorded six takedowns in a commanding victory over Colin Neitzke to give DL a 20-19 lead eight matches in.
All three of Neitzke’s points were escapes allowed by Jackson so he could point up.
Nathan Francis and Perham’s Zach Peterson had the match of the night going to overtime at 160.
Francis built a 4-0 lead but Peterson rallied for five straight points including a third period near fall to take the 5-4 lead. Francis tied the match seconds later. Peterson won the match with a takedown in the one-minute extra session giving Perham the lead for good 22-20.

No. 7 Patrick Glynn pinned DL’s Jordan Mackner at 3:16 of the 170-pound match and Perham led 28-20.
Open weights at 182 and 195 made for an anticlimactic ending putting Perham up big 40-20.
Perham opened a 12-0 lead on back-to-back pins by Leighton Rach and Dylan Fudge.
DL’s Braydon Ortloff, No. 9-2A (113), answered with a 2:50 pin of Patrick Johnson to cut the Jacket lead in half after his 120-pound match.
Payton Jackson won at 126 with a shutout major decision (8-0) over Perham’s Wyatt Guck cutting the lead to two 12-10.
Austin Baker saved a point for DL by keeping off his back in a 14-1 loss to No. 7 Chase Curtis at 132.
Marcus Jasken had a big pin at 138 over Tyler Fudge at 1:49 to tie the match at 16-16.
James Huwe, No. 3, and Jesse Bucholz, No. 10, squared off at 285 to end the match.

Huwe defeated Perham’s heavyweight by decision 5-2.
DL falls to 9-6 in duals this season. Perham improves to an impressive 19-3 record.
