BEMIDJI - Eighth-grader Lydia Rutten captured the 400-meter dash title at the Little Amik meet at Bemidji State University's Gillett Fitness and Recreation Center Tuesday, April 2.
Rutten added a fourth-place finish in the high jump with a leap of four-feet, eight-inches. Lydia's sister Ellie Rutten, a sophomore, was ninth clearing four-feet, nine-inches. Ellie also finished 15th in the 200-meter dash in a field of 132 runners with a time of 29.85.
Senior Kristy Koljonen added a fifth place finish in the 60-meter hurdles in a time of 10.66. Koljonen qualified fourth in the preliminaries with a time of 10.38.
Sophomore Ann Hendrickx placed eight in the shot put with a throw of 30-feet, one-inch.
The New York Mills girls finished eighth recording 19.5 points. Bemidji won the meet with 105, edging Detroit Lakes by one-half point. The Lakers were runners-up with a score of 104.5.

The Eagles' boys team failed to score at the meet. Sophomore Josia Bessler finished 10th in the high jump for the boys' teams' top finish. Bessler cleared five-feet, three-inches.
