Another year of men's softball play is in the books ending with another championship for the Silver Moon/Joe's Backhoe softball team, after a 22-8 blowout in the championship game over Team Budweiser.

The win is the fifth straight title for the team. The last time another team won was in 2005 by then champs Mich Golden.

"We have just enough youth and speed to help out the majority of us with age amd experience," said Manager Ed Weller. "It's been a good blend."

A repeat of last year's championship game was in the cards for six innings of the semi-finals.

Mulligan's, last year's runners-up, held a slim two-run lead over Team Budweiser before the Buds took it to Mulligan's in the seventh for an 11-8 victory.

Team Budweiser advanced out of the loser's bracket to face defending champions Silver Moon/Joe's Backhoe in the finals, of which, Budweiser would have to win twice to take the title away.

The Budweiser boys got up early in the first inning on a three-run homer by Matt Richter but the lead was short-lived, as the defending champs put up 22 runs in the 22-8 blowout.

An assortment of players from the winners had big days at the plate.

Brent Weller, Brad Weller, Eric Weller, Kelvin Lubitz, Todd Kalina, Jeff Guck and Chad Burkman all went 3-4 at the plate. Burkman had a two-run homer. Randy Skoog, aside from pitching duties, went 2-4 with a home run.
