The Osakis Silverstreaks held off a late rally from the Perham Yellowjackets, earning an 8-7 victory in fastpitch action at Arvig Park on April 6.

The Silverstreaks scored a trio of runs in the seventh inning and held on as Perham rallied back, bringing the eventual winning run to the plate.

Cierra Olson and Katie Zepper had big days at the plate for the Yellowjackets. The duo combined for eight hits and three runs scored. Olson finished with four singles, while Zepper had three singles and a double. Grace Minten and Mattie Scheidecker added a pair of hits as well in the loss.

Perham jumped ahead in the first inning with a pair of runs. Scheidecker started with a single and came around to score on an RBI single by Olson. Olson eventually scored on an RBI single by Zepper, giving the Yellowjackets the 2-0 lead.

However, Osakis rallied back scoring three runs in the second. Perham responded with a run of its own when Emma Bowers singled home Teri Harthun, evening the game at three.

Perham grabbed the lead in the third with a pair of runs. Olson singled and scored in the winning while Hannah Ekse walked and eventually scored as well, giving Perham the 5-3 edge.

Osakis tied the game with single runs in the fourth and fifth innings, before grabbing the lead in the seventh inning. The Silverstreaks scored three runs in the seventh inning, taking an 8-5 lead into the bottom of the inning.

Zepper and Grace Minten started the inning with back-to-back doubles, cutting the lead to two runs. Scheidecker followed with a two-out RBI single, making it 8-7. Emma Bowers followed with a line drive to center, but they Osakis outfield shaded her to the left side and made the catch, ending the game.

Zepper suffered the loss on the mound. She allowed eight runs on nine hits. She struck out four in the game.

The Yellowjackets fall to 0-2 overall on the season and return to action with a Heart O’Lakes Conference doubleheader on Tuesday. The Yellowjackets take on Breckenridge in Breckenridge, beginning at 4 p.m.
