Six Yellowjackets were named to the Heart O' Lakes-Northern all-conference team, the most of any team in the Northern division of the conference.
The list is made up of four seniors: Jesse Hein; Gabe Pankonin; Jacob Still and Mark Schumacher; junior Jordan Hein and sophomore Payton Jordahl.
Jordan Hein was named the Northern Division's most valuable player, while brother Jesse Hein was named most valuable defensive lineman.
Head Coach Mike Jordahl was named coach of the year in the Northern Division.
Jordahl becomes the fourth Perham coach to receive accolades this season.
Sherri Ressler was named the Section 8A Swimming and Diving coach of the year. Jeff and Kay Morris were named 8A Boys Cross-Country coach of the year and assistant coach of the year, respectively.
The Perham team awards were also handed out at the annual end of season banquet:
Enthusiasm Award: Jordan Hein; Most Dedicated: Jesse Hein; Most Improved: Jesse Wunderlich and Most Academic: Mark Schumacher.
The final team award handed out was the Yellowjacket Award, going to statistician Ron Berns.
According to Jordahl, each year, the team gives out a coaches' award to someone in the program who has gone above and beyond the call of duty, paid or unpaid.
Jordahl said in a speech at the banquet, "It is important to us and much appreciated that we have statisticians that do such a great job: Ray Sailer, Bob Schepper, Tim Wilschewski, Brian Mort, and probably many more have been taking stats since I can remember.
One particular gentleman that was been to just about every single football game since 1983 or 1984 and has taken spot on stats is Ron Berns. Ron asks to watch film of the games, just to check his own work. How's that for dedication?
He is such a joy to have on the sidelines, as he always seems to know what's going on. I remember several years ago that a particular call was made by the officials and wasn't correct. Ron pulled the rule from his memory and then we checked it in the rules book. No doubt who was right on that call. Thanks, Ron."
Berns provides professional statistics of game, individual and season football statistics, the likes of which, are rare anywhere else in the state.
Frequently, reporters from sister Forum papers make requests to get copies of Berns' stats when their teams play the Yellowjackets.
