The Perham softball team was swept in its season opener doubleheader against Dilworth-Glyndon-Felton on Thursday, April 22. The Yellowjackets lost 10-0 in the first game and 15-1 in the second game.
In the first game of the doubleheader, DGF scored seven runs in the first inning, putting the Yellowjackets on their heels early. Lily Lorenson and Alivia Trepanier each had a hit for Perham in the game, but the team was unable to score.
Katie Johnson pitched all five innings for the Yellowjackets and was the losing pitcher. Mallory Leitner was the winning pitcher for the Rebels, allowing two hits and striking out nine batters.
Perham did get on the board in the second game but still lost 15-1. The lone run for the Yellowjackets came in the sixth inning. Grayce Mickelson started the inning with a single, and Lorenson drove in Mickelson on an RBI single. These were the only hits for Perham in the loss.
Steph Meissner pitched all seven innings and was the losing pitcher in the game. DGF broke the game open with 11 runs in the final two innings. Jenna Bjelland went six innings for the Rebels to pick up the win.
The Yellowjackets are 0-2 on the season. They host a doubleheader with Detroit Lakes Tuesday, April 27, at 4 p.m.
