Perham's softball team lost both games of a doubleheader against Frazee Friday, May 14, in Perham. The Hornets shut out the Yellowjackets in the first game 8-0 and won the second game 13-3.
Malena Mahoney got the complete game shutout for the Hornets, allowing just four hits in the game. The hits came from Perham's Grayce Mickelson and Marissa Hopwood, who each had one hit, and Lily Lorenson, who notched two hits in the game.
Katie Johnson was the losing pitcher for the Yellowjackets. She gave up 8 runs and 10 hits, walking six batters over seven innings.
In the second game, Perham got on the board in the first inning, scoring one run. Frazee answered back in the bottom of the first with two runs. The Hornets also scored five runs in the fourth and six in the fifth inning. The Yellowjackets tried to come back in the top of the fifth, scoring two runs, but it wasn't enough and they lost 13-3.
Mickelson had two hits and two runs in the contest, and Johnson had one hit. Hannah Zachariason had a double and scored one run.
Madison Starry was the winning pitcher for the Hornets and Steph Meissner took the loss for Perham.
Perham is now 5-5 on the season and 4-4 in the Heart of Lakes Conference. The Yellowjackets host Detroit Lakes at 4 p.m. Monday, May 17, at Arvig Park in Perham.

Yellowjackets sweep Vikings in doubleheader
Perham took two games from Pelican Rapids in a doubleheader Thursday, May 13, winning the first game 2-0 and the second game 4-3.
Katie Johnson pitched the complete game shutout in game one. She had a no-hitter going until the seventh inning, when she gave up a single to Pelican Rapids' Greta Tollefson. She walked two batters and struck out nine in the contest.
The Yellowjackets scored their two runs in the fourth inning, with Emma Daniels and Alivia Trepanier each driving in a run. Grayce Mickelson, Lily Lorenson, Johnson, and Trepanier each had hits for Perham.
Madi Tollerud was the losing pitcher for the Vikings, giving up four hits and two runs over six innings. She also walked one batter and struck out six.
Perham won game two by a score of 4-3. Steph Meissner picked up the win for the Yellowjackets, giving up five hits, three runs, and walking one batter over seven innings pitched.
Pelican Rapids jumped ahead early, scoring one run in the first inning. Perham answered back with runs in the second, fifth, and sixth innings. The Vikings cut the lead by adding two runs in the sixth inning, but Meissner was able to work out of a bases-loaded jam in the sixth by inducing a ground ball to the mound.
Lorenson, Johnson, and Meissner each had one hit and one RBI in the contest, while Trepanier and Leah Honer had two hits each in the contest. Honer also drove in a run for the Yellowjackets.
