Perham/New York Mills/Henning senior diver Dena Fischer put herself in position to achieve her goal at the 2019 Class A Diving Championships on Nov. 14 at the University of Minnesota.
The senior said her goal was to reach the podium, which would be a top eight finish overall. After the preliminaries and semifinals, Fischer sits in fifth place overall with a score of 263.25

Fischer will now dive in the Class A Finals on Nov. 16.
Rocori’s Olivia Motter leads the way with a score of 287.20, while Winona’s Issara Schmidt is second with 283.80 points. Mesabi East’s Kailey Fossell sits in third place after day one. Fossell finished with a score of 282.90. Detroit Lakes’ Jackson Hegg finished the semifinals in 12th place with a score of 247.45 and advanced to the finals. The top 16 divers from the semifinals advance to compete in the final event.
Fischer sat in fourth place after the preliminaries. She had a score of 172.10 after the first four dives of the day. Fischer will have three more dives during the finals on Nov. 16 at the University of Minnesota Aquatic Center.
