Perham wrestlers continue strong run with wins over DGF, Pelican Rapids

The Perham wrestling team was back on the mats just two days removed from dominating the Grand Forks Sertoma Tournament when they squared off against Pelican Rapids and a newcomer to Section 8AA, Dilworth-Glyndon-Felton.

The wear and tear of a busy week did not slow down the Yellowjackets when they cruised to a 48-19 victory over DGF and an 80-0 victory over Pelican Rapids on Dec. 12 in Glyndon.

It was the first look for the Yellowjackets at the Rebels, who were placed back into Section 8AA during the state’s two-year realignment program.

The Yellowjackets won nine of the 13 matches, cruising to the victory over the host Rebels. Blaze Brady started it off with a 4-0 win over Jordan Summers at 106. Dylan Johnson followed with a fall on Dawson Zutz at 113. Owen Werner earned a fall win at 120, which was followed by Gabe Bellefeuille’s 10-0 major decision victory over Zander Jenson at 126.

DGF picked up a win at 132 when Jack Fuchs defeated Brandon O’Hara by fall, but Perham responded by winning five straight matches.

Jack Fudge earned a 3-1 decision win over Logan Grubb at 138. Leighton Rach was victorious over Cade Sogge with a 10-1 major decision win. Dylan Fudge followed with a fall win at 152 over Daniel Wilson. Wyatt Guck defeated Carter Schmidt by a 13-0 major decision at 160. Dawson kellogg followed with a fall win over Carter Steen at 170.

DGF’s Jacob Arens followed with a major decision win over Brian Ramos at 182, before Ty Moser won by forfeit at 195. DGF closed out with a pair of wins at 220 when Trevor Dufault defeated Jose Lopez 4-2 at 220 and Hunter Macziewski knocked off Rowdie Lindquist by fall at 285.

Perham rolled to a victory over Pelican Rapids. Dylan Johnson earned a fall at 113 over Anthony Reese, while Owen Werner defeated Sebastian Centeno by Tech Fall 16-1 at 120. Gabe Bellefeuille defeated James Furey by fall at 126. Dylan Fudge earned a fall win over Max Dykhoff at 152, while Wyatt Guck won by fall at 160 over Zane Brosowske. Brian Ramos earned a 6-4 decision win over Matthew Ziebell at 182. The Yellowjackets captured the remaining matches by forfeit against Pelican Rapids.

The Yellowjackets are now 9-0 in dual meet action and return home to host Park Rapids Area on Tuesday, Dec. 19 at 7:30 p.m. at the Prairie Wind Middle School gymnasium.
