The Perham Yellowjacket softball team belted out three home runs during its doubleheader with the Barnesville Trojans on April 21. Unfortunately for the Yellowjackets, it wasn't enough for them to sweep the Trojans. The Yellowjackets split the doubleheader, winning game one, 8-4, before dropping game two, 9-5.

Hannah Ekse delivered the big knock for the Yellowjackets in the first game of the day. Her three-run home run helped the Yellowjackets build a lead, which Mara Leslie preserved on the mound. Leslie picked up her third win of the season in game one.

The Yellowjackets couldn't maintain the strong hitting in the second game, despite getting some outstanding performances at the plate, while suffering the 9-5 loss.

Annie Ingebrand finished with three hits, including a home run for the Yellowjackets. Alex Lubitz connected for a home run as well. She had two hits as well. However, it was Barnesville that earned the win, using a seven run inning to pull away.

The Yellowjackets sit at 3-1 overall and 3-1 in the Heart O'Lakes Conference. They return home to take on St. Cloud Cathedral at 5 p.m. at Arvig Park on Friday.
