The Yellowjackets claimed six individual titles en route to the team title for the second consecutive year. Perham finished with a team score of 239.5. “I thought our kids wrestled very solid. They may not have been flashy, but fundamentally they did things right,” Perham Head Coach Robb Moser said. “A couple of our guys had great days. Jesse Bucholz had a wonderful day. I think he probably wrestled the best on our team. Colin Neitzke got third place in the toughest weight class in the tournament. He had a nice solid day. It was a good way to start for our guys to get back into the swing of things.” New London-Spicer came in second, while Sauk Centre-Melrose was third. Roseau finished in fourth. He followed that up with a pin over New London-Spicer’s Jared Travis. “He (Parks) got down 5-0 and it showed his true character. He kept plugging away,” Moser said. “Parks has really brought it. He has brought his ‘A’ game to every match. There have not been any letdowns, which is really neat to see.”United North Central’s Tristan Palmer earned the win at 195. He defeated Perham’s Cole Schmitz in the finals, 5-2. Two of the three matches came down to the very end,” Moser said. “He has a knack for getting it done. We sat him at the end of December because of some shoulder issues. For him to get back out here and start winning again was good. He needed it.”Jesse Bucholz picked up the win at 285. He defeated New London-Spicer’s Brandon Knisley in the finals by a 2-1 decision. He was victorious over Kieren Oksanen in the semifinals by fall at 3:02. It was a good, deep weight class,” Moser said. “He had a big win in the semifinals and then to go against Knisely and did a nice job there. He is a state ranked kid and he wrestled him without being reckless. It was very controlled. Perham-The Perham Yellowjacket wrestling team won its third tournament of the year when they won the 38th annual KLN Family Brands Invitational on Saturday, Jan. 3.The Yellowjackets claimed six individual titles en route to the team title for the second consecutive year. Perham finished with a team score of 239.5.“I thought our kids wrestled very solid. They may not have been flashy, but fundamentally they did things right,” Perham Head Coach Robb Moser said. “A couple of our guys had great days. Jesse Bucholz had a wonderful day. I think he probably wrestled the best on our team. Colin Neitzke got third place in the toughest weight class in the tournament. He had a nice solid day. It was a good way to start for our guys to get back into the swing of things.”New London-Spicer came in second, while Sauk Centre-Melrose was third. Roseau finished in fourth. Roseau’s Chandler Mooney won the 126 division. Mooney went 3-0 during round robin competition. The 126 class only had five wrestlers. Perham’s Patrick Johnson came in second. Johnson finished 2-1 on the afternoon. Chase Curtis won the 132 class. He finished with a 2-0 record. Perham-The Perham Yellowjacket wrestling team won its third tournament of the year when they won the 38th annual KLN Family Brands Invitational on Saturday, Jan. 3.
