Barricades are going up on Little Detroit Lake this week in anticipation of the ice harvest that will launch construction of Detroit Lakes' 2022 Polar Fest Ice Palace, starting Thursday, Jan. 20. The ice palace will be the city's largest to date, containing roughly 2,000 blocks of ice harvested directly from the lake. Polar Fest will officially begin Thursday, Feb. 11 and conclude Sunday,. Feb. 27. The super-sized winter festival marks the culmination of the community's 150th birthday celebration.
Puzzlepalooza, hosted by Empowering Kids, will start at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 22 at the Counrtyside Barn in Perham.
Aby Wolf and "Champagne Confetti" will perform at the New York Mills City Hall Ballroom at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, March 11. The show was rescheduled from its original January date due to COVID-19.
This party is planned, organized and sponsored by juniors and their parents, and all are encouraged to attend the committee meetings. The first is on Tuesday, Jan. 11 at 6:30 p.m. in Room 108, also known as the high school media center.
