The unplowed, narrow driveway on Stall Lane, near Lake Melissa off Highway 59, caused problems as first responders arrived on scene, the Detroit Lakes fire chief said.
The fire appeared to have started accidentally in a garbage can and is believed to be non-suspicious in nature, according to an Otter Tail County Sheriff's Office press release.
The scammer said he needed money “to get his oil rig working again” and convinced the victim to deposit money in Bitcoin for him. The scammer was sent $6,000, according to a dispatch report.
The 16-foot by 30-foot shed, owned by Edward Stans, 79, was fully engulfed in flames, with nobody around, when the fire was initially reported at 9:51 a.m. Tuesday.
Three, 30-pound tanks and five, 20-pound tanks were stolen with a value of about $567. There was also approximately $2,500 in damage to the storage cage, according to the incident report.
On Feb. 4 at 7:15 p.m., emergency dispatchers received a report of a barn fire north of Nimrod, Minn., and were advised the structure housed several goats. The barn was fully engulfed upon arrival.
