So far, I am still a free man, but the rest of you walking up that deadly ramp to get your mail are on your own. I'm one person trying to make a difference!

Devout Catholics who used their left hand to make the sign of the cross were considered blasphemers. My own grandmother, who spent most of her youth in a Catholic orphanage, was punished when she tried to do tasks with her left hand.

After blowing a tire and damaging the rim, I had been stranded in my car for over 2 1/2 hours trying to get help over the phone. A young knocked gently on the car window and asked if he could change the tire. Even though it was a cold, windy Minnesota day, he cheerfully set about the task.
Letters to the editor are a form of public dialogue, a true marketplace of ideas, where people of diverse viewpoints bump into each other as they plead their case. There's never been a time when letters to the editor were more important.
