Crystal Lynn Grant, 40, of Ottertail has been charged in Becker County District Court with felony check forgery. According to court records, she allegedly used old checkbooks to forge checks in Otter Tail, Wadena and Becker counties. On Oct. 8, District Judge Doug Clark issued a summons for her to appear in court Oct. 22.
WILLMAR, Minn. – Second-degree murder charges are pending against two individuals who were arrested late Monday afternoon, Nov. 5, in the homicide death of David Medellin Jr. The body of the 24-year-old Willmar man was found Wednesday in a plowed field near Willmar in central Minnesota and on Friday law enforcement said Medellin’s death was being investigated as a homicide.
MOORHEAD, Minn. — A train struck and killed a person on railroad tracks in downtown Moorhead, according to Moorhead Police Capt. Deric Swenson. Swenson said the collision happened about 4:28 p.m. Monday, Nov. 5. The identity of the person killed was not immediately released.
Roger Froemming, a dedicated public servant and Otter Tail County Commissioner, died at his home Tuesday, Oct. 30. Froemming devoted more than half his life to serving the public. He was elected in 1998 and served the people of Otter Tail County for 20 years.
A 60-year-old male from Ottertail was injured Wednesday morning, Oct. 24, in a two-vehicle crash east of Detroit Lakes, according to the Minnesota State Patrol. According to the State Patrol report: The crash happened about 6:50 a.m. when a tractor truck that was westbound on Highway 10 and driven by Edward Walter Jutz, 70, of Frazee, Minn., failed to yield to an SUV driven by Bruce Delwin Hurt, 60, of Ottertail. Hurt was taken to a Detroit Lakes hospital with no life-threatening injuries. Jutz was not injured.
HANKINSON, N.D. -- A 59-year-old Hankinson man was killed after he tried to pass a tractor Tuesday night and his vehicle struck a towed disc plow causing the crash north of Hankinson. According to the North Dakota Highway Patrol, the man was driving southbound just after 7 p.m. on RIchland County 1 when it met a northbound tractor towing a disc plow and coil packer. The man's 2004 Chevrolet Impala struck the implement, towed by 18-year-old Brandon Hart of Wales, causing extensive damage to the top of the vehicle.
ST. PAUL -- More than 300 people have died on Minnesota roads so far this year, an increase over 2017 figures by Oct. 22, preliminary numbers released Monday by the state said. The Department of Public Safety Office of Traffic Safety reported 302 deaths, which includes 195 vehicle occupants and 58 motorcyclists. Last year, traffic deaths in the state did not reach 300 until Oct. 31. Twenty-nine pedestrian deaths have been reported, matching 2017 figures to date, the DPS said.

A 39-year-old Detroit Lakes man was killed when crossing Hwy 10 Thursday night in Wadena on his bicycle. The bicyclist, who's name was not yet released, was traveling north on Second Street and crossed over Hwy 10 against a red light, striking a 2009 Chevy Silverado broadside that was traveling west, according to a Minnesota State Patrol report. The crash occurred at about 11:15 p.m. with wet conditions as a rain and sleet mixture was falling.
TOLNA, N.D. - Snow. It has arrived in North Dakota and four farmers in Tolna, N.D. celebrated the overnight snowfall by taking off their shirts and laying down to make snow angels.
