STAPLES—A Wadena County Sheriff's Office investigation is looking at two individuals, who may have beaten a dog with golf clubs before shooting it and leaving it in McGivern Park north of Staples last week. Much of the incident was video recorded and shared on social media. The individuals involved are believed to be siblings.
A BNSF train was briefly on fire Wednesday afternoon causing the train to stop and block the three crossings in Wadena. Wadena Police officers and Wadena County Sheriff's officers were on scene directing traffic away from the crossings as the fire went out.
Two level 3 predatory offenders are back in jail after a month of living on their own in Wadena. After being released, Timothy G. Bungert (on Nov. 5) and Adam L. Schultz (on Nov. 1), the two were both living on the 100 block of Bryant Avenue in Wadena. "Bungert and Schultz are only authorized to speak with individuals who are pre-approved through their department of corrections agent," according to Wadena Police Sgt. Brandon Pearson. "Officers received information that they had both violated that term of their release, so a warrant was issued for their arrests."
